A time of reflection in London

A time of reflection in London

about me

When I was 13 years old my parents bought The Best of Life book, which contained 302 pages of some of Life magazine’s most memorable photos from some of the world’s greatest photographers. I spent a lot of time paging through that book, and my eyes were continually drawn to the photos of W. Eugene Smith. Whether it was his Country Doctor series, or the stark image of a Japanese mother bathing her blind and deformed daughter, or the sublime photo of his own two small children walking together through the opening of a hedgerow, Smith’s photography had an immediate and profound impact on the way that I viewed the world around me.

While Eugene Smith’s work was one of my inspirations for becoming a photographer, I had set out to create my own style once I was drawn deeper into the world of photography. As I set out on a career in this field, many people encouraged me to specialize in a single area of photography, in order to be successful. But I found that path to be far too constricting. I found greater interest and satisfaction in seeking assignments, or embarking on my own photo adventures, which would expand my range of experience and expertise. And soon my life would come to revolve around carrying a camera on my shoulder nearly everywhere I would go, and for the next 38 years.

Within this website you will find an array of photo subjects, ranging from people to landscapes to wildlife, and beyond. The differing styles and techniques demonstrate my passion for the art, as well as a desire to push myself into greater creative realms. And while I still enjoy simply recording what I see, I do allow for greater freedom of expression through the occasional use of in-camera techniques, or by using photo manipulation software.

As well as a sampling of my photography, you will also find my blog, which I will periodically update. There I will share some of my photo experiences, which will sometimes be geared toward some aspect of photo instruction. At other times I will share an anecdote, as there is always a tale worth telling regarding any photo shoot. And I will continually add new photos and new subject areas to this site to share more of my photo experiences, including some from long-ago shoots.

If you are drawn to any of the photos that you may see, be sure to visit the link to Product and Pricing, where you can find information on how you can acquire them. These images can be printed in various forms, such as on canvas, wood, metal, or glass. Or they can be printed on top-quality photo paper and matted, signed, and framed for your wall. In addition, licensing the rights for any of the photos for any commercial use is also available, and terms, conditions, and fees can be provided from me directly.
